What is CBD? How does it work on skin?

The Hemp Plant contains around 400 chemicals knows as 'cannabinoids'.
The two widely well-known cannabinoids are THC and CBD.

CBD is a non-toxic cannabinoid. It is produced as a very fine white powder, and is extracted from the hemp plant in an almost pure form. Broad Spectrum CBD is completely THC free. Full Spectrum CBD may contain traces of THC and terpenes. We use only Broad Spectrum CBD in our skin products.

CBD is fast becoming a turn-to for many people and has been clinically demonstrated in studies to have strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Applied to the skin CBD is renowned by users to have a number of benefits, and will not enter your blood-stream like ingested oils or vaped products.
Whilst many users of CBD report that CBD provides a number of other benefits for a wide range of body conditions, we can only market our CBD based on the scientifically proven research on its anti-inflammatory benefits.

You may notice that many of our CBD skin products are made with a high concentration of skin butters and skin oils. The oil-based ingredients we use have been carefully selected, we avoid alcohols or synthetic additives.

When products are applied, the natural oils lock in the vitamins and ingredients contained within each product, to ensure the benefit permeates and does not immediately leave the skin or remain just on the skin surface.

So how exactly does it work?? The science says...

''Substances penetrate the outer layer of the skin and permeate from one layer to another. Substances are transferred through the main barrier of the skin, the stratum corneum, by passive diffusion into the underlying viable layers of the epidermis.
Uptake of a substance is proportional to compound’s concentration gradient between the formulation and the base of the stratum corneum. The extent of the uptake varies widely with the physicochemical properties of the xenobiotic, the formulation and application of the product, and with skin conditions.''

In short, much like most ingredients in cosmetic products, the particles that make up CBD are small enough to penetrate the outer layer of your skin and reach the immediate tissue beneath - which allows the properties of the CBD and all of our other ingredients to go to work reducing inflammation and providing you relief!
